Chapter 8

When the individual reaches the table, Wotan stands up and shakes the person's hand and waves them to take a seat. As the captain retakes his seat, he greets the newcomer saying. “So, what has brought you out of the woods today and into these parts?” It shocks Zorander. The Captain is talking in High-Quenya. As far as Zorander knows, no one has spoken it for ages and here is the captain talking to someone in it. The stranger replies. “Wotan, you should know by now I never pass up on tweaking your nose when you travel these lands. And aren’t you going to introduce me to your travel companion? And we should stop talking over his head, don't you think?” Wotan chuckles before he waves to get the maiden to bring a third mug of ale for his guest, then says. “Corellon, this is my ship's doctor, Zorander. And Zorander, this is Corellon, an old acquaintance of mine.” The tavern maid brings the new ale and when she sees him without his cloak hood up stops and after a quick moment continues to place his ale down and walks away. Zorander with his head tilted watching the tavern maid walk away slowly returns his head back and says in High-Quenya. “Please don’t stop conversing in this, I’m not sure I’ll find anyone else who knows it.”

Corellon stops in mid-sip and wryly eyes Zorander as he drinks it. Wotan is laughing at the look on Corellon’s face. Corellon says. “My pardon, I meant no disrespect.” Zorander replies. “And I take none, sir. I just wanted to assure you there was no reason to stop on my account. But if you two need me to wander off” At that moment the tavern door loudly opens and a small group of men enter, two carrying a fellow over to a long table by the bar. One who had held the door open says. “Pardon us, but someone has stabbed our companion while we were on our way here. It will be just a moment as we heal him.” Wotan stands and walks over and sees the person on the table is his client and sighs slowly, shaking his head. Corellon turns to Zorander, asking. “How is it you know this language?” Zorander still watching the group pouring elixirs in and onto their companion replies. “I’m a crystal healer and in the journals of crystals I have often found it in areas describing the upper techniques of crafting and casting use. As well, in the old journals of healing dealing with magic healing.” Corellon, still watching this young man, notices he is using magic to examine the person laid out on the tavern table. And is not surprised when he quickly stands up and hurries over to the table and says. “Pardon me, but they have poisoned your companion. Do you carry any antidotes?”

The one who had been dealing with the tavern owner quickly turns at hearing this and says. “No, we don’t.
